About Me

John Patrick Mugumya combines the storytelling instincts of a journalist with the structural discipline of the SaaS industry. Currently a technical writer, he holds a Bachelor degree in Literature and a Master in Technical Communication and E-Learning. He applies this dual background to the analysis of public information to deconstruct complexity and ensure clarity.

The Goal

Behind every jargon lies a simple story. Write Right is a project focused on clarity. I believe that complexity should never be a barrier to insight. Whether it is a financial report, a weather forecast, or a sports commentary, I strip away the complexity to simplify the meaning. My goal isn't to critique the writer. It is to empower the reader. I ask the questions you are thinking and suggest how things could be said better.

My Approach

I don't dumb it down. I clear it up. My goal is to simplify, not oversimplify. I believe that complex ideas, from Artificial Intelligence to Atmospheric Rivers, can be explained in plain language without losing their nuance. I apply a simple test to every piece of writing I review: Is it clear? Is it free of insider noise? And ultimately, does it help you understand the world better?

What I Cover

Jargon exists everywhere. My Analysis covers the full spectrum of published writing including Technology, Finance, Science, Sports, and Breaking News. I don't care where the story comes from; I care only about the clarity. Whether it is a 'Hedge Fund' or a 'False Nine,' if it is confusing to me, I assume it is confusing to you. I will try to break it down using everyday examples.

My Background

My approach comes from the world of Technical Writing. In this job, clarity is not a stylistic choice; it is a very basic requirement. I apply that same standard to the broader media landscape. I look at how 'insider' language in any field can alienate readers, and I fix it using principles of simplicity and accuracy.

Why It Matters

Write Right exists because I believe you shouldn't need a dictionary or a PhD to follow current affairs or the news. When industries use buzzwords, they gatekeep knowledge. I want to unlock it. The words around us are complex, but the stories behind them don't have to be.

Your Role

This project is a conversation, and I want you to be part of it. Have you encountered a confusing buzzword and found the simple story hiding behind it? Did you figure out a better way to explain a complex topic in your field? Don't just keep that insight to yourself. Write it down and send it to me. I would love to read your take and feature your writing in a future post. Let us simplify the words together.
